The Rudy Fund
Rudy's Story: A three month old orange tabby kitten was found under a house and surrendered to the Feline
Rescue Mission. We took the kitten to the vet and discovered that he had suffered severe nerve damage in
his back right leg and therefore had no feeling or use of the limb. We decided to call this little survivor, "Rudy."
Rudy was very malnourished and scared when we first took him in, but the most disturbing injury was to his
leg. He would drag his leg when he would walk or run and was unable to jump or sit comfortably. We knew
something had to be done for Rudy, and though surgery to remove his badly damaged leg would be costly, we
tried very hard to raise enough money for the bill. Through the generous donations of the community, as well
as a very loving donation by one individual (who would later adopt Rudy!) and one veterinarian, Rudy
underwent surgery on 12/14/07.
The change in Rudy's attitude was immediate! He was free of his painful limb forever! He was adopted soon
after his surgery and is living a normal cat-care-free life with his new owners and his three other feline pals. He
is able to run, jump, climb, and do all the things kittens are supposed to do when they are young. He is the
ultimate success story for The Feline Rescue Mission.
The Rudy Fund was established so that other cats in need of medical care will be able to receive that care
ASAP. Did you know that there are several cats and kittens sitting in high-kill shelters with fractures and
respiratory diseases who have no chance to be adopted unless an organization like The Feline Rescue
Mission steps in to cover the cost of their treatment? As long as The Rudy Fund donors help keep us supplied
with critical finances, we can take care of the costs for many of these cats and and bring them to our no-kill
organization. Rudy is just one example of an injured cat that FRM has stepped in to help, and we need the
help of our community of animal lovers so that we can participate in awesome rescues over and over again.
You can be a part of helping an animal go from lost and injured, to safe, home and healthy. Please consider
donating today.
